Guwahati Police apprehended a man and seized fake currency notes worth ₹10 lakh during a targeted operation near Boragaon on Monday.
Acting on specific intelligence related to Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), a team from West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) under Garchuk Police Station intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number AS-01Y-7837. During the search, officers recovered counterfeit notes with a total face value of ₹10,00,000.
The person riding the motorcycle has been identified as Santanu Talukdar, aged 48, a resident of Gakhir Chowk in Boragaon. He was immediately taken into custody, and the seized notes have been sent for verification and further examination.
Guwahati Police shared the update through a post on X, confirming that legal proceedings have already begun and further investigation is underway to determine whether a larger network is involved in the circulation of fake currency.
Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious financial transactions or counterfeit currency to the nearest police station.
