21 Arrested in Assam for Supporting Delhi Terror Attack; CM Vows Zero Tolerance

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that the state police have arrested 21 individuals for allegedly expressing support online for the terrorists behind the recent Delhi terror attacks. The development follows an ongoing crackdown on what the government has termed “anti-national activities” across Assam.

Taking to X, the Chief Minister wrote:

“#UPDATE: Another anti-national have been arrested by @assampolice, taking the total count to 21. We will NOT tolerate anyone expressing support online for terrorists behind the #DelhiTerrorAttacks.”

He also released the list of those arrested, belonging to various districts of the state. The names include:

  2. Hassan Ali Mondal (Goalpara)
  3. Jayanta Mohan Das (Nalbari)
  4. Abdul Latif (Chirang)
  5. Wajhul Kamal (Kamrup)
  6. Nur Amin Ahmed (Bongaigaon)
  7. Rafijul Ali (Bongaigaon)
  8. Forid Uddin Laskar (Hailakandi)
  9. Inamul Islam (Lakhimpur)
  10. Firuj Ahmed @ Papon (Lakhimpur)
  11. Shahil Shoman Sikdar @ Shahidul Islam (Barpeta)
  12. Rakibul Sultan (Barpeta)
  13. Nasim Akram (Hojai)
  14. Taslim Ahmed (Kamrup)

The arrests, made across multiple districts, underscore the Assam Police’s intensified surveillance on social media platforms and stringent measures against individuals showing sympathy toward extremist forces.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the state government would take strict action against any form of support for terrorism, stating that Assam will not be a safe haven for those endorsing anti-national ideology.

With the count now reaching 21 arrests, the crackdown is expected to continue as authorities monitor online activities and trace further links related to the attack.

The government reiterated its stand that national security remains non-negotiable, and strong legal action will follow against anyone attempting to destabilize peace and public safety in the state.
