Lakhimpur, Assam: In a significant political development in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, around 600 citizens from different political parties in the Bihpuria constituency joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday during a programme held at the district BJP office.

The development was shared by Assam Minister Ranoj Pegu on social media platform X, where he stated that the joining programme took place under the leadership of Bhupen Kumar Borah. The event witnessed the formal induction of hundreds of new members into the party.

Minister Pegu attended the programme along with Manab Deka, the MLA of Bihpuria, and district BJP president Shyamal Sharma. The leaders welcomed the new entrants and encouraged them to actively participate in public service and contribute to national development.

During the event, the newly joined members were greeted by party leaders and supporters at the Bharatiya Janata Party district office in Lakhimpur, where the programme was organised.

Addressing the gathering, Ranoj Pegu said the inclusion of a large number of people from different political backgrounds reflects growing public support for the party’s policies and development initiatives. He urged the new members to work collectively for the welfare of society and strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in the region.

The minister also encouraged them to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and the people while contributing to the broader national vision of Viksit Bharat, which aims to transform India into a developed nation through inclusive growth and strong governance.

Leaders present at the programme expressed confidence that the induction of new members would further strengthen the party’s organisational structure in the **Bihpuria constituency and across **Lakhimpur district.

Political observers note that such joining programmes often play an important role in expanding party networks at the grassroots level, especially ahead of major political developments and elections.

With the addition of hundreds of new members, party leaders believe the BJP’s organisational base in Upper Assam will receive further momentum, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas of the Bihpuria constituency.
