Six Drug-Addicted Persons Rescued, Peddler Arrested in Khanapara Operation

Guwahati, August 26: An early morning operation conducted by the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Basistha Police Station led to the rescue of six drug-addicted individuals at Khanapara on Monday. The rescued persons were immediately shifted to a rehabilitation centre for treatment and recovery.

According to police, during questioning, the individuals disclosed information that helped in tracing a drug peddler identified as Rahul alias Diesel (32), a resident of Khanapara, Meghalaya. He was subsequently apprehended by the police team.

In the follow-up action, police recovered 16.60 grams of heroin (including boxes), 15 empty vials, a mobile phone, ₹330 in cash, and other incriminating items from his possession.

Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, while further investigation is underway to identify his supply network.

Police have reiterated their commitment to combating drug abuse in the city, urging citizens to report suspicious activities and assist law enforcement in curbing the menace.
