Guwahati Police Busts ‘Jamtara–Jorabat Edition’ Scam, Three Arrested

Guwahati Police busted a cyber fraud racket operating from Jorabat, dubbing it a real-life “Jamtara–Jorabat edition.” The East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Basistha Police Station carried out the operation on Friday.

Police arrested three individuals identified as Aslam Ansari (31) of Deoghar, Jharkhand; Saddam Hussain (26) of Boko, Kamrup; and Saddam Hussain (27) of Boko, Kamrup.

During the raid, police seized 17 ATM cards, ₹5,000 in cash, and 5 mobile phones.

According to officials, the accused duped unsuspecting victims, funneled money into fake bank accounts, and withdrew funds using stolen cards.

“This episode ends not on Netflix but in police custody,” Guwahati Police remarked in a social media post. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals.
