Guwahati: In a major crackdown against cybercrime and anti-national elements, Assam Police announced that 953 SIM cards used by criminals and inimical groups have been deactivated.

The move comes under Operation Ghost SIM, an ongoing drive to curb fraudulent communication networks. The deactivation was carried out after Assam Police requested the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to take action.

Lauding the efforts of its Special Task Force (STF), Assam Police reiterated its stance of zero tolerance towards scamsters and anti-national activities.

Authorities have emphasized that stricter monitoring and swift action will continue to ensure that communication systems are not misused for illegal purposes.
