Gohpur, Assam — In a significant step toward enhancing higher education infrastructure in Assam, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lay the foundation stone of Swahid Kanaklata Baruah University at Gohpur on November 8.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu shared the update on his official X handle, informing that the upcoming university will be equipped with modern infrastructure and curricula aligned with the needs of the contemporary world.
Dr. Pegu also mentioned that he visited the project site on Saturday to review the preparations for the foundation stone laying ceremony. He expressed optimism that the new university would play a pivotal role in expanding higher education opportunities in the region.
Named after the legendary freedom fighter Swahid Kanaklata Baruah, the university is envisioned to become a center of academic excellence and innovation in Upper Assam.
