Seven Arrested in Guwahati for Fake Currency Racket and Dacoity Plot

In a swift operation based on credible intelligence, an East Guwahati Police District team from Basistha Police Station busted a gang allegedly involved in circulating Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and planning a dacoity. The operation was carried out at Koinadhara in the Khanapara area, where the police intercepted two vehicles, a Swift bearing registration number AS07X1666 and a Scorpio with registration number AS02AG7901.

During the search, officials recovered FICN with a face value of ₹98,500, along with bamboo sticks, mobile phones, air bags and other materials suspected to be used for criminal activities. All items were seized as per legal procedures.

Seven individuals were apprehended in connection with the incident. They have been identified as Mahammad Ali, aged 37, and Suruj Ali, aged 49, both from Laluk; Jakir Hussain, aged 28, from Bihpuria; Ainul Haque, aged 32, from Tezpur; Allaluddin, aged 41, from Rupohi; and Amir Hussain, aged 34, from Kochua. The police have stated that further investigation is underway to uncover possible links and networks associated with the fake currency operation. Legal action has already been initiated against all accused as the authorities continue efforts to curb organised crime in Guwahati.
