Guwahati, November 14: The National Science Centre (NSC), Guwahati, unveiled a new outdoor facility, the Kids’ Play Zone, on Thursday to mark Children’s Day. The space was formally inaugurated by Guwahati MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.

The play zone features two dedicated sections — one for toddlers up to eight years and another for children up to fourteen. The facility is designed to support holistic development through active and engaging play. It aims to boost physical fitness, coordination, creativity, and problem-solving skills while encouraging social interaction and emotional well-being.

The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by NSC Director Sujay Majumdar. In her speech, Medhi underscored the growing need for activity parks in urban centres and stressed the importance of nurturing young minds for the country’s future.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Asif Salim, Superintendent Engineer of NSC Guwahati. The Centre has invited families, students, and visitors to explore the new facility, which promises to enrich recreational as well as educational experiences for children.
