Amguri, Nov 21: Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah inaugurated a major Solid Waste Management Project under the Amguri Municipal Board on Wednesday evening, marking another step forward in ongoing development initiatives across Upper Assam.

The newly launched project features a Solid Waste Management Plant along with a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Centre. The MRF unit is designed to segregate recyclable materials—including paper, plastic, glass, and metals—from general waste, thereby streamlining the recycling process.

In addition, the Waste-to-Compost unit will convert organic waste into compost, significantly contributing to pollution control and promoting a sustainable waste management ecosystem in the region.

Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aayush Garg, Amguri Municipal Board Chairperson Anamika Neog Baishya, and several other dignitaries were present during the inauguration held at Borbil, Ward No. 5, Amguri Town.

Minister Mallabaruah emphasized that such initiatives reflect the government’s continued commitment to improving civic infrastructure and fostering environmentally responsible practices across the state.
