Guwahati, November 22, 2025 – The Guwahati Police have successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized a significant quantity of heroin in a targeted operation conducted near Noonmati Bazar.
The operation was executed by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) in coordination with a team from the Noonmati Police Station (PS). The action followed credible intelligence regarding illegal drug activities in the area.
In an initial raid on a hideout near Noonmati Bazar, one individual identified as Moni Ali was apprehended. The team’s recovery at this location included four plastic vials containing heroin, with a total weight of approximately 5.05 grams, one empty vial, one mobile phone, and cash amounting to ₹ 8,870.
The operation was immediately followed by a further search at Moni Ali’s rented accommodation, located near Noonmati LP School. This second search proved crucial, leading to the recovery of an additional packet of heroin weighing 9.75 grams.
The total seizure from the operation amounts to approximately 14.80 grams of heroin.
The Guwahati Police have confirmed that the necessary legal action, presumably under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, has been initiated against Moni Ali. This successful operation marks another step in the Guwahati Police’s continuous efforts to combat and dismantle the drug trafficking network operating within the city.
