Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) under Basistha Police Station apprehended a veteran thief identified as Zakir Ali, aged 20, from the Natunbazar area on Monday.
According to Guwahati Police, the operation led to the recovery and seizure of two stolen mobile phones — one Vivo and one Realme — from the accused’s possession.
The arrested individual, Zakir Ali, hails from Howli, and legal action has already been initiated against him.
Police officials stated that intensified efforts to curb theft and related crimes across the city will continue.
