Guwahati, November 28, 2025 — Guwahati Police on Tuesday arrested two suspects in connection with a snatching incident reported near MC Road in Kharghuli. The crime involved a victim being intentionally hit by a scooty before her bag was forcefully taken away.
According to an update posted by Guwahati Police on X, a CGPD team from Latasil Police Station led the investigation and quickly traced the culprits using technical surveillance.
“A CGPD team from Latasil PS has solved a snatching case reported near MC Road, Kharghuli where the victim was hit by a scooty and her bag, containing a OnePlus mobile & ₹800, was snatched. Technical analysis led to identifying scooty AS01GK6207, traced to Ulubari.”
Following this lead, the police arrested two individuals identified as Kishan Basfor, aged 20, and Abhishek Basfor, aged 18.
Both suspects were apprehended in Ulubari, and authorities successfully recovered the stolen bag along with the OnePlus mobile phone and ₹800 in cash. The scooty used in the crime (registration number AS01GK6207) was also seized.
Guwahati Police confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.
The incident highlights ongoing efforts by the city police to strengthen surveillance and crack down on street crimes swiftly.
