Guwahati Police successfully recovered ₹3,00,000 lost to an online financial scam, demonstrating swift response and effective cybercrime tracking measures. The recovery was made by the Cyber Police Station team following a complaint filed under the Cyber PS General Diary Entry dated September 2, 2025.
According to an update shared by Guwahati Police on X (formerly Twitter), officers immediately traced and blocked the suspicious transaction after receiving the alert. Their timely intervention ensured the full amount was refunded to the complainant.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is still underway to identify the individuals behind the fraudulent activity.
The police also issued a reminder urging citizens to remain vigilant against cyber scams. An awareness poster shared with the update highlights key safety tips, including avoiding the disclosure of OTPs, account passwords, or sensitive banking information to unknown callers or online entities.
Residents are encouraged to report cybercrime by dialing 1930.
