Two Notorious Thieves Arrested with Stolen Goods in Basistha Area

Guwahati Police arrested two habitual thieves and recovered a large cache of stolen items following a vehicle interception in the Basistha area.

According to police, a team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) under Basistha Police Station intercepted an EECO van bearing registration number AS01GF2065 at Sonkuchi. During the operation, two accused were taken into custody. They were identified as Ali Hussain (30) of Chhaygaon and Nur Islam (27) of Patacharkuchi.

Police recovered several stolen articles from the vehicle, including an LED monitor, brass plates, 10 batteries, aluminium items, and vehicle engine parts. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that the recovered items were stolen from Mukalmua.

Guwahati Police stated that legal action has been initiated against the arrested persons, and further investigation is underway to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
