An EGPD team of Guwahati Police has cracked a mobile snatching case with the arrest of two seasoned offenders in connection with an incident reported on December 24, 2025.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shajid Rahman alias Tespia (23) of Sijubari and Safiqul Islam alias Darji (30) of Natboma. During interrogation, both confessed to their involvement in the crime and admitted their role in multiple mobile snatching incidents across the city.
Police also recovered and seized a scooty without a registration number, which had been stolen from the Wireless area on December 23 and used in committing the offence. Acting on the accused persons’ lead, the receiver, Jamir Khan of Natboma, was apprehended, and the snatched mobile handset was recovered from his possession.
Legal proceedings have been initiated, police said.
