Guwahati: Guwahati Police on Friday said that a team from the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD), under Noonmati Police Station, intercepted an auto-rickshaw carrying stolen diesel near the Mathghoria Bridge following specific intelligence inputs.
During the operation, police apprehended Ramjan Ali, a resident of Hajo. In addition to the auto-rickshaw, two abandoned vehicles were also seized from the area.
Police recovered 41 plastic drums containing approximately 2,320 litres of diesel. In total, three vehicles were seized in connection with the case.
Guwahati Police said further investigation is underway to identify the source of the stolen diesel and to trace other persons involved in the racket.
