The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has intensified its mechanised road cleaning initiatives across the city to improve sanitation, air quality, and public hygiene in high-traffic areas.
In a series of posts shared on X, the civic body stated that modern sweeping machinery is being deployed to ensure faster dust removal, efficient waste collection, and systematic sanitation across important roads and urban zones. The corporation said the use of advanced cleaning equipment has significantly reduced dependency on manual labour while enhancing the overall efficiency of sanitation operations.
According to the GMC, the mechanised cleaning drive is helping create cleaner, safer, and healthier public spaces for residents. The initiative is also aimed at strengthening Guwahati’s urban infrastructure and improving the city’s environmental conditions by reducing roadside dust and waste accumulation.
The corporation further highlighted that the technology-driven sanitation measures are playing a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness standards in busy commercial and public areas, contributing to the broader vision of developing Guwahati into a modern and sustainable city.
