The Guwahati West Police District (WGPD) achieved a major breakthrough in a theft-related case after a team from Gorchuk Police Station arrested a suspected thief and recovered several stolen materials from his possession.

According to a statement shared by Guwahati Police on X, the accused has been identified as 25-year-old Prafulla Ranghang, a resident of Dhalbama. The arrest was carried out during a police operation led by officials of Gorchuk Police Station.

During the operation, police recovered multiple items believed to be stolen. The seized materials include around 6 kilograms of water pump wire, two batteries, approximately 49 kilograms of silver pipes, 46 kilograms of iron materials, and several AC pipes.

Police officials stated that the recovery was made following a targeted investigation into theft activities in the area. The recovered materials are suspected to have been stolen from construction sites, commercial establishments, or residential locations.

Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the accused under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation is currently underway to determine whether the accused was involved in other theft cases reported in and around the city.
