Guwahati, Assam: A team from Gorchuk Police Station rescued three cattle after intercepting a vehicle near the Gorchuk Flyover in Guwahati, police officials said on Saturday.
According to a post shared by Guwahati Police on X, a Women Police Group (WGPD) team from Gorchuk Police Station intercepted a car bearing registration number AS13L8485 during an operation conducted near the flyover. During the search of the vehicle, police rescued two bulls and one cow.
The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the police to prevent illegal transportation of cattle and other unlawful activities in the area. Following the interception, the rescued animals were taken into police custody for further necessary action.
In its social media post, Guwahati Police stated, “A WGPD team from Gorchuk PS intercepted one car (AS13L8485) near Gorchuk Flyover and two bulls & one cow were rescued. Further probe is on.”
Officials said an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances under which the cattle were being transported. Police are also examining whether any laws related to cattle transportation or animal welfare were violated.
Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and taking strict action against any illegal activities involving the transportation of animals. The probe into the incident is currently underway.
