Heroin Worth ₹2.47 Crore Seized in Sribhumi, One Arrested

Sribhumi: Assam Police seized heroin worth approximately ₹2.47 crore and arrested one person during a successful anti-narcotics operation in Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Tuesday.

Sharing details of the operation through a post on X, the Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Assam Police and Sribhumi Police in cracking down on drug trafficking activities in the state.

“No chamber is secret enough for Assam Police,” Sarma stated, highlighting the effectiveness of the operation that led to the recovery of the contraband and the apprehension of the accused.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to intensifying its fight against the drug menace and dismantling narcotics networks operating across Assam.

“Our fight against the drug menace continues with full force,” he added.

Police sources said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the seized heroin and identify other individuals who may be linked to the trafficking network.

The latest seizure is part of the Assam government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, which has witnessed a series of operations targeting narcotics smugglers and organised drug syndicates across the state.
