Dergaon: The Assam Police is set to strengthen its ranks with the induction of 32 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and 371 Constables (Communication), who will formally enter service during a passing-out parade at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon on September 2.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the ceremony as the chief guest and take the salute at the parade, marking the completion of training for the new batch of police personnel.
The induction of the 403 personnel is expected to add fresh strength to Assam’s policing system, with the newly trained officers and communication personnel preparing to take up responsibilities across the state. Assam Police said the recruits are entering service with an emphasis on discipline, dedication and a strong sense of duty towards the people.
The passing-out ceremony is part of a two-day programme at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy. The academy will also host the 6th Conference of Senior Superintendents of Police on September 2 and 3, bringing senior police officers together for the conference.
The latest batch represents a mix of supervisory-level police officers and specialised communication personnel. The 32 DySPs will join the state police in officer-level responsibilities, while the 371 Communication Constables are expected to contribute to the communication and technical support functions essential to modern policing.
The Assam Police has described the occasion as the beginning of a new phase for the newly trained personnel, who are expected to carry forward their responsibilities with professionalism and commitment.
With the passing-out parade and senior officers’ conference being held at the same academy, Dergaon is set to become the centre of major Assam Police activities over September 2 and 3.
