Barpeta, Assam: The gates of Manas National Park will open to visitors on October 2, signalling the return of tourism activities for the 2026-27 season after the annual monsoon break.
The reopening date was announced by Nitish Boro, Ranger of the Bansbari Range of Manas National Park. A special programme is scheduled to be held at the park’s second main entrance on the occasion, marking the formal beginning of the new tourism season.
The annual closure during the monsoon is part of the park’s seasonal management arrangements. With the reopening, visitors from within India as well as international tourists will once again be able to access the wildlife reserve and experience its natural landscape.
According to park authorities, tourism activities will continue from October 2 until further orders, subject to the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and the Assam Wildlife (Protection) Rules, 1997.
Tourists planning a visit will also have to take note of the weekly closure days applicable to individual ranges. The Bansbari Range will remain closed on Tuesdays, while the Bhuyanpara Range will not receive visitors on Thursdays. The Panbari Range will observe its weekly closure on Fridays, and the Kuklung Range will remain closed on Wednesdays.
The reopening is expected to bring renewed activity to the park’s tourism sector as visitors return to Manas following the monsoon season. The park, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its rich biodiversity and wildlife habitats along the foothills of the Himalayas.
