Guwahati, Oct 25 — The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday organised a candlelight peace march in front of Nehru Park, Panbazar, demanding justice for the mysterious death of Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg.

The peaceful march, held more than a month after Garg’s untimely passing, drew widespread public attention and sparked renewed criticism of the state government over its alleged inaction in revealing the truth behind the tragedy.

Led by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, the march witnessed the participation of hundreds of Congress workers and senior leaders, who gathered with candles to honour the memory of the iconic artist. The sight of flickering lights and emotional faces turned the heart of Guwahati into a scene of collective mourning and solidarity.

Addressing the gathering, Gogoi said the candlelight march symbolised the people’s unwavering demand for justice and transparency. He urged the Assam government to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death, asserting that the truth must not be hidden from the people of Assam.

To ensure smooth proceedings and prevent any untoward incident, a heavy police deployment was in place around Nehru Park. The event, however, remained peaceful and orderly, reflecting the participants’ deep respect for the late singer’s legacy.

Zubeen Garg’s death has left a lasting void in Assam’s cultural landscape. His fans, family, and admirers continue to seek clarity and justice, turning the movement for truth into one of the state’s most emotionally charged public causes in recent times.
