Guwahati, July 18, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation by distributing 342 appointment letters to newly recruited faculty members of engineering and polytechnic colleges across the state.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), CM Sarma highlighted this recruitment as a key step toward enhancing the quality of technical education in Assam. He wrote:
“Today, I distributed appointment letters to 342 faculty members of engineering and polytechnic colleges which will improve quality of teaching in our technical institutions and is yet another step in delivering on our promise of Govt jobs.”
With this latest round of appointments, the Chief Minister announced that his government has delivered a total of 1,21,182 government jobs, moving closer to fulfilling the BJP-led state government’s promise of 1 lakh jobs made in its 2021 election manifesto.
CM Sarma further revealed that the recruitment drive is far from over. Another 40,000 to 50,000 appointment letters are expected to be distributed in October, which will take the total number of jobs provided during the current government’s five-year tenure to an estimated 1.75 lakh.
“And all of this, most transparently,” he added, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fair and merit-based recruitment.
The Chief Minister’s announcement was widely welcomed, as it not only reflects the progress in job creation but also underlines a focused push toward strengthening Assam’s education infrastructure—especially in the technical and engineering sectors. The newly recruited faculty are expected to play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals in the state.
This large-scale recruitment initiative comes as part of the Assam government’s broader goal of employment generation, youth empowerment, and institutional development, promising a more robust and inclusive future for the state.
