In a decisive move to curb the issuance of fake Aadhaar cards in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the state government is set to implement stricter Aadhaar card issuance protocols, especially for adults.

Sharing a bold visual featuring a noose around a fake Aadhaar card, the CM wrote,
“Time’s up for fake Aadhaar Cards in Assam! In a few days from now, we will make Aadhaar issuance stricter for adults so that no infiltrator can illegally obtain the card and disturb India’s harmony. Infiltrator Mukt Assam is our goal and we will NOT STOP till it is attained.”

According to the accompanying image, Aadhaar cards for adults will soon be issued only by District Commissioners (DCs), a move aimed at tightening verification procedures. The post emphasizes the government’s resolve with the slogans:
“No more fake Aadhaar, No more illegal stays.”

This development comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of Aadhaar cards by illegal immigrants in the state. The new rule is expected to significantly reduce the issuance of forged identity documents and enhance national security, particularly in the border-sensitive northeastern region.

The government’s step to centralize Aadhaar distribution for adults under DCs indicates a shift from private or decentralized enrollment agencies to a more regulated and controlled mechanism.

Chief Minister Sarma has consistently raised concerns about illegal immigration and its impact on Assam’s demographic and cultural balance. This new policy reflects his administration’s commitment to combating infiltration and ensuring the sanctity of national identity documentation.

More details regarding the implementation timeline and updated Aadhaar enrollment procedures are expected to be released shortly by the state government.
