Guwahati, July 31, 2025 — In a major step toward transforming the education sector in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced an ambitious plan to invest ₹2,750 crore over the next five years. The initiative aims to overhaul the state’s school infrastructure, enhance early childhood education, and reduce dropout rates.
The announcement was made through a post on X (formerly Twitter), where CM Sarma shared key highlights of the project. “In the next 5 years, we will be spending over ₹2,700 crore to give a major boost to our education sector. 400 new schools and 1,733 Anganwadi Centres will come up across Assam to strengthen the foundation of our education system,” Sarma stated.
