In a major boost to technical education, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the approval of three new polytechnic colleges in Assam. The institutions will come up in Hajo, Majuli, and Tingkhang with a total investment of ₹150 crore.
Sharing the development on X, the Chief Minister wrote, “Great news for Assam’s youths! We have approved 3 more Polytechnic colleges in Hajo, Majuli and Tingkhang at a cost of ₹150cr. These polytechnics will offer more opportunities to our younger ones as they imbibe vocational and technical skills in them.”
The new colleges aim to create more opportunities for students to gain practical, industry-ready skills. The government expects these institutes to play a key role in strengthening Assam’s technical workforce and supporting local industries.
This initiative aligns with the state’s broader vision to expand access to quality education and empower youth through vocational training. Construction of the colleges is expected to begin soon, paving the way for increased enrollment in technical education streams.
