Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing war against drugs, reporting a major heroin seizure by Cachar Police.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that acting on information provided by a remanded accused, Assam Police carried out a targeted operation that led to the recovery of 664 grams of heroin. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around ₹4 crore in the illegal market.
Sarma praised the swift action of Cachar Police and reiterated the government’s firm stand against narcotics trafficking. He stated that the state would continue to pursue drug peddlers relentlessly and ensure strict action against those involved in the trade.
Reaffirming Assam’s zero-tolerance approach, the Chief Minister declared, “No place for narco-terror in Assam,” highlighting the state’s commitment to eliminating drug networks and protecting future generations from the menace.
