Assam, September 6, 2026: A new funding opportunity has been announced for entrepreneurs and startups in Assam, with the Assam Innovation & Startup Foundation inviting applications under the Assam Startup initiative to support the development of innovative business ideas and products.
The funding programme is designed to provide financial assistance to startups at different stages of development. According to the application notice, ventures at the Idea Stage can receive support of up to ₹10 lakh, while startups at the Prototype/MVP Stage are eligible for funding of up to ₹20 lakh. For startups working on deep-tech solutions at the Prototype/MVP stage, the available support can go up to ₹40 lakh.
The announcement was shared by Ranoj Pegu, Education Minister of the Government of Assam, who described the initiative as an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs and startups to turn innovative concepts into market-ready solutions.
Applications for the funding support opened on September 4, 2026, and interested applicants have until October 3, 2026, to submit their applications. The foundation has advised applicants to ensure that their submissions are complete and include all mandatory information and supporting documents required for evaluation.
The selection process will involve multiple stages. Applicants are required to apply under the category corresponding to their current startup stage. Those applying under the Prototype/MVP category may also be required to demonstrate their working product or prototype during the evaluation process.
The initiative also provides for equity-linked incubation support for eligible Prototype/MVP-stage applicants. Such support will be subject to applicable terms, evaluation and due-diligence procedures.
The latest funding call is expected to offer an important avenue for Assam-based innovators and entrepreneurs seeking financial assistance to develop and scale technology-driven ideas. The higher funding provision for deep-tech startups could be particularly significant for ventures requiring greater investment in product development, technology and validation.
