Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday said the Water Resources Department Assam is steadily reinforcing the state’s flood protection infrastructure through ongoing embankment works at key locations.
According to the minister, embankment construction is progressing along the right bank of the Kapili River, both banks of the Dimila River at Dalonghat, and the stretch from Cherenghat to the Brahmaputra River at Nij Rongamati.
Hazarika said the initiatives are focused on protecting people, agricultural land and livelihoods, while strengthening Assam’s preparedness against recurring floods.
