BJP Announces 28 Candidates for BTR Election 2025, Leaders Confident of Victory

Guwahati, Sept 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, has announced the list of 28 candidates for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Election 2025. The list, declared by State BJP President Dilip Saikia, was released following the State Election Committee meeting on August 31.

The candidates will contest from constituencies spread across the four districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur, and Udalguri. The list includes both new and prominent faces, with representation from Scheduled Tribe (ST), Non-ST, and Open categories. Notably, Kabita Basumatary from Salakati and Rekharani Das Boro from Baganpara have been fielded as the two women candidates.

Reacting to the announcement, Assam Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal took to social media platform X to extend his best wishes. “BJP for BTR, BTR for BJP! Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all 28 BJP candidates for the upcoming BTR Election. With the able guidance of Hon’ble State President Shri Dilip Saikia and the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, I am confident our candidates will win the people’s trust and mandate,” he posted.

Expressing optimism, Singhal added that with the blessings and support of the people, the BJP is set for a “thumping victory” in the upcoming polls.

The announcement has officially set the stage for the BTR Election 2025, where the BJP is aiming to strengthen its foothold in the region.
