Guwahati, March 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday unveiled its second list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, announcing nominees for two constituencies as part of its ongoing selection process.
As per an official communication from the party’s Central Election Committee, Krishna Saha has been nominated to contest from the Dalgaon Assembly constituency, while Jiban Gogoi has been fielded from Sissibargaon. The latest announcement follows the BJP’s earlier release of its first list, which covered candidates for 88 constituencies across the state.
Party sources indicated that the remaining candidates are likely to be declared soon, as preparations intensify ahead of the high-stakes elections.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress also moved forward with its candidate selection, releasing its fourth list on the same day. The list, approved by the party’s Central Election Committee, includes nominees for seven constituencies.
The Congress has fielded Bidisha Neog from Jalukbari, Rohit Pariga from Tangla, Jayanta Borah from Biswanath, Dr. Joy Prakash Das from Nowboicha (SC), Gyandip Mohan from Mahmora, Pran Kurmi from Titabor, and Rahul Roy from Hailakandi.
With both major parties accelerating their candidate announcements, the political landscape in Assam is witnessing heightened activity as the Assembly elections draw closer.
