Silchar, Assam | August 8, 2025: In a significant breakthrough in Assam’s war against drugs, the Cachar Police intercepted a vehicle carrying 50 bags of cannabis in an intelligence-backed operation. The vehicle was reportedly coming from a neighboring state when it was intercepted by law enforcement officers.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the update on social media platform X, stating,

“Stride against drugs continues 🚨
In an intel backed operation, @cacharpolice intercepted a vehicle coming from a neighbouring State and seized 50 bags of cannabis.
Two people have been arrested, who will experience a different high now.

The two accused have been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover the drug supply chain and identify other members involved.

This operation marks another successful step in Assam’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, with CM Sarma repeatedly emphasizing a “zero-tolerance” approach toward drug trafficking in the state.

Officials confirmed that the seized contraband will be sent for further forensic evaluation, and strict legal action will be pursued against the offenders.

The Assam Police continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to drugs and narcotics as part of their wider crackdown across the state.
