The Assam Criminal Investigation Department has launched an extensive investigation across the state after uncovering a network suspected of supplying forged educational certificates for government teaching appointments. The probe began after authorities detected Graduate and Post-Graduate certificates allegedly issued in the name of Techno Global University in Madhya Pradesh, which officials now believe are fake.

CID sources confirmed that between 15 and 25 related cases have already been registered, and investigators are working at high speed to trace individuals linked to the scam. Early findings indicate that at least 50 candidates may have submitted forged documents while applying for teaching posts under the state Education Department. Several of those under suspicion are currently untraceable, prompting multiple search teams to be deployed.

On Wednesday, coordinated raids and verification drives were carried out in districts such as Nagaon, Dhing, South Salmara and nearby areas. Officers examined official files, questioned individuals and seized documents believed to be connected to the racket. The department now believes the operation is wider than initially estimated, and more areas have been brought under the scope of the inquiry.

Officials said the crackdown will continue, and more arrests are expected as evidence is verified and suspects are identified. Meanwhile, the Education Department has begun reviewing recent teaching appointments to locate questionable entries and ensure that only candidates with valid academic qualifications remain eligible for government positions.

The case has raised serious concerns over recruitment integrity and the possibility of similar forged credentials being used in other sectors. Investigators said the full scale of the fraud will become clearer as the inquiry progresses.
