Bongaigaon, Assam: – In a significant stride toward women’s empowerment and economic self-reliance, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that over 20,000 women in Bongaigaon have received a seed fund of ₹10,000 each under the Mukhya Mantri Atmanirbhar Asom (MMUA) scheme to kickstart their entrepreneurial ventures.

Sharing the update on X, the Chief Minister wrote,

“Over 20,000 women in Bongaigaon received their seed fund of ₹10,000 each under #MMUA to start their entrepreneurial ventures. This one push followed by follow-up interventions will enable them to be Atmanirbhar and stir a grassroots level economic transformation in Assam.”

He further added that the state government’s mission under MMUA aims to empower over 39 lakh women across Assam, helping them become ‘Lakhpati Baideos’ — financially independent women earning a sustainable income.

“Over 39 lakh women in Assam are being empowered to become Lakhpati Baideos through the assistance of our Govt under #MMUA. Join me from Bongaigaon,” the Chief Minister posted.

The MMUA scheme, one of the flagship initiatives of the Assam Government, is designed to foster entrepreneurship, self-employment, and financial inclusion at the grassroots level. Beneficiaries receive initial financial assistance, skill development support, and mentorship to establish small businesses, thereby boosting the rural economy.

In Bongaigaon, the latest disbursement marks another milestone in the state’s ambitious drive to build an Atmanirbhar Assam, where women lead the charge toward economic transformation. The initiative reflects the government’s larger vision of nurturing a self-reliant and prosperous society, empowering women to become key contributors to Assam’s growth story.
