Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 215 candidates belonging to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities for various technical and non-technical positions in the state’s health sector. The programme was held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
The appointments cover posts under the Directorates of Medical Education and Research, Health Services, and Health Services (Family Welfare). Addressing the newly appointed candidates, the Chief Minister said the state government has effectively implemented a three per cent reservation for eligible Tea Tribe and Adivasi youth in Grade III and Grade IV government jobs.
With these appointments, Sarma said the total number of government jobs provided during the present tenure has reached 1,45,664. He also announced that the reservation benefit would soon be extended to Grade I and Grade II posts, further expanding opportunities for youth from these communities.
Urging the appointees to discharge their duties with sincerity and commitment, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on strengthening healthcare services in tea garden areas, where access to medical facilities remains a key concern.
The event was attended by several state ministers, senior government officials and other dignitaries, who congratulated the candidates and highlighted the government’s focus on inclusive development and social empowerment.
