Mitharam Chapori, Assam | July 13, 2025: In a show of solidarity and swift response, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the flood-affected areas of Mitharam Chapori, where rising waters have severely impacted local communities.

Sharing an update on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister posted:

“Visited the site affected by floods in Mitharam Chapori and interacted with the affected people.
Our Govt stands firm with them and will ensure prompt rehabilitation.”

The Chief Minister personally surveyed the inundated areas, spoke with displaced families, and assessed the extent of the damage caused by the overflowing Brahmaputra and its tributaries. The visit comes amid continued efforts by the state government to provide immediate relief to flood-hit regions across Assam.

During his interaction with locals, CM Sarma reassured the victims that the government would stand firmly by their side and expedite all necessary relief and rehabilitation measures. He directed officials on the ground to ensure that essential supplies, medical care, and shelter facilities reach the affected families without delay.

“We will not let our people suffer. Every family affected will receive full support for rebuilding their lives. Relief camps will remain operational until normalcy returns,” the Chief Minister stated on the ground.

He further emphasized the state government’s commitment to long-term flood management solutions, including embankment strengthening, improved drainage systems, and river management infrastructure to prevent future disasters.

The visit to Mitharam Chapori is part of the Chief Minister’s ongoing flood monitoring mission, as several districts remain vulnerable due to heavy rainfall and swelling rivers. Disaster response teams, NDRF units, and local administration have been mobilized across the state to respond swiftly to emerging situations.

Citizens praised the Chief Minister’s hands-on approach and the government’s rapid mobilization of resources. Relief materials, including food packets, drinking water, tarpaulins, and medical kits, have already been dispatched to affected villages.

The Assam government has also opened emergency helplines and launched a flood information portal to assist those in need. Financial assistance and compensation for crop loss and damaged homes are being processed under state and central relief schemes.

With the flood situation still evolving, CM Sarma’s direct engagement on the ground signals the government’s proactive stance in ensuring safety, support, and recovery for Assam’s resilient people.
