Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday distributed appointment letters to 5,550 newly recruited TET-qualified teachers for Lower and Upper Primary schools at a grand ceremony held at the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara. The event marked another major milestone in the state government’s drive to provide 2 lakh government jobs.

Following the ceremony, the Chief Minister took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the achievement, stating, “Our job counter is super reliable! It’s not even 4 months and we have now delivered 1,26,793 Govt jobs. Transparent recruitment is now a norm in Assam, not an exception. With today’s 5,500 new appointees, we are inching closer to our goal of delivering 2 lakh jobs.”

Dr. Sarma reaffirmed that transparency and meritocracy have become the foundation of Assam’s recruitment process. He highlighted that the government’s ongoing employment initiatives have helped fulfill the promise of one lakh jobs and are steadily progressing toward the two-lakh target.

The ceremony was attended by Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu and other dignitaries. Alongside the teacher appointments, the Chief Minister also launched the distribution of 8,799 tablets to teachers under the Teacher Resource Package and 4,280 tablets to students under the Arohan Scheme — aimed at improving digital learning and educational support across Assam.
