Erosion has emerged as a serious challenge in several parts of Sukchar, threatening both land and livelihoods. To address the issue, the Water Resources Department, Assam has started installing PSC porcupines at vulnerable locations in the area.
Minister Pijush Hazarika informed through a post on X that the initiative aims to curb the menace and safeguard erosion-affected zones.
The installation of PSC porcupines is expected to help stabilize riverbanks and reduce the impact of strong water currents, providing much-needed protection to the local communities.
Authorities have assured that more preventive steps will follow to ensure long-term mitigation of erosion in the region.
