Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that the newly inaugurated Tata Semiconductor facility at Jagiroad marks a defining moment in India’s journey towards high-tech manufacturing and will play a crucial role in transforming Assam’s industrial landscape.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister wrote, “The Tata Semiconductor facility, Jagiroad marks India’s future in high-tech manufacturing, set to redefine Assam’s industrial landscape and generate vast opportunities for our youth. Delighted to accompany Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji at OSAT, Jagiroad. We remain grateful for her constant support in shaping Assam’s semiconductor journey.”
Earlier in the day, Dr. Sarma welcomed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati as she arrived for her two-day official visit to Assam.
Sharing a post about the arrival, the Chief Minister stated, “Glad to accord a warm welcome to Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji at Guwahati Airport today. Her visit marks yet another milestone in Assam’s growth journey as we move ahead with transformative projects shaping our state’s future.”
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the Finance Minister’s visit includes inauguration and dedication of several key projects aimed at accelerating Assam’s economic development and strengthening its position in India’s rapidly growing manufacturing ecosystem.
The Tata Semiconductor facility at Jagiroad is expected to open new avenues for technological innovation and large-scale employment in the region, aligning with the government’s vision of establishing Assam as a hub for advanced industries in the Northeast.
