Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced on X that the foundation stone for a new Working Women’s Hostel in Dhemaji has been officially laid. The project, sanctioned under the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department, carries an investment of ₹8.4 crore.
In his post, Pegu expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister Smti Ajanta Neog for approving the project. He stated that the upcoming hostel will play a crucial role in supporting women in their professional pursuits, offering safer and more enabling living facilities.
The initiative aims to strengthen infrastructure for working women in the region, ensuring they have access to secure accommodation that fosters independence, mobility, and career growth. The development marks a significant step toward empowering women and enhancing welfare frameworks in Assam.
