Dhemaji, October 21: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, along with Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah, laid the foundation stone for a Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Machkhowa Degree College in Dhemaji district.

Sharing the news on X, Pegu highlighted the significance of the project, calling it a major step towards empowering tribal girl students in the region. He wrote that the new hostel would greatly benefit students from both nearby and distant areas by providing them with a safe and supportive residential facility.

Established in 1984, Machkhowa Degree College has long been recognized as one of the leading centers of higher education in the Machkhowa region. The addition of the new hostel is expected to further enhance educational access and opportunities for tribal girls, especially those from remote villages.

The initiative aligns with the Assam government’s continued focus on improving educational infrastructure and ensuring inclusive growth across all communities.

Pegu also extended his gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Chief Minister’s Office (CMOfficeAssam) for their support in realizing this development project, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting education and gender equality in Assam’s rural and tribal areas.
