Kohima, July 17, 2025: Reigning Miss Universe Nagaland 2025, Kelülü Dawhuo, is all set to represent Nagaland on the national stage as she departs for the Miss Universe India 2025 finals, scheduled to be held at the National Stadium in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking to the media ahead of her departure on Wednesday, Kelülü reflected on the strength and spirit of Naga women. “Even after facing hardships, we have the strength to rise again and continue with life,” she said, expressing pride in her roots and resilience.
A member of the Chakhesang Naga tribe, Kelülü will showcase her heritage by donning a traditional costume titled “Goddess of Folk Song”, inspired by a legendary figure from her community. Her ensemble is meant to highlight the rich cultural identity and storytelling traditions of the Naga people.
A second-year BA student, Kelülü spoke about the challenge of juggling academics and pageantry but credited her family’s unwavering support and the guidance of her mentors for helping her maintain balance and confidence.
She follows in the footsteps of Ruofuozhano Whiso, who earned the fourth runner-up title in last year’s competition. While Kelülü acknowledged the expectations that come with such legacy, she remained grounded and focused.
“There’s no pressure to outshine anyone. I just want to shine in my own light and bring glory to Nagaland,” she said.
Beyond the pageant, Kelülü continues to be an advocate for girl child education, a cause close to her heart. She affirmed her commitment to pursuing this mission with even greater focus after the competition.
Her journey to the national stage reflects not only personal ambition but also a larger vision of showcasing Nagaland’s cultural richness, diversity, and inner strength to the rest of the country.
