Morigaon Police Seize Suspected Heroin, Arrest Two in Laharighat Operation

Morigaon, July 31, 2025 — In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, Morigaon Police apprehended two individuals and seized over 11 grams of suspected heroin during a targeted operation in Laharighat.

According to an official post by Morigaon Police on X (formerly Twitter), the action was taken based on a tip-off received on July 30. Acting swiftly, Laharighat Police arrested Md Jakir Hussain from Bogolipara village and recovered 11.09 grams of suspected heroin from his possession.

Following the initial arrest, police acted on Hussain’s statement and apprehended co-accused Najrul Islam in connection with the case.

Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against both individuals under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The Morigaon Police reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and ensuring a drug-free society. This operation is part of a larger campaign against narcotics across Assam.
