Morigaon Police Seize Suspected Heroin in Jagiroad, Two Arrested

Morigaon, July 18, 2025: In a major success in the fight against narcotics, the Morigaon Police intercepted a vehicle on National Highway 27 near the TATA Semiconductor unit in Jagiroad and recovered 58.05 grams of suspected heroin.

According to an official update from the Morigaon Police on X, a Hyundai i20 was stopped during naka checking by Jagiroad Police Station. Upon inspection, the team discovered the suspected heroin concealed inside a hidden cavity of the vehicle.

Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the seizure. They have been identified as Md. Ajijur Rahman and Md. Muksidul Momin. Both are currently in police custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This operation highlights the proactive measures being taken by Assam Police to combat drug trafficking along key transit routes. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband.
