Ahead of the HSLC and Higher Secondary (HS) examinations, 2026, scheduled to be held from February 10 to March 16, the Kokrajhar district administration has imposed prohibitory measures to ensure a disturbance-free environment and the fair conduct of the examinations.
District Magistrate Pankaj Chakravarty issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, citing concerns over possible noise pollution, crowding near examination centres, and attempts to resort to unfair means during the exam period.
According to official sources, a total of 31 HSLC examination centres and 22 HS examination centres have been established across the district. The restrictions are aimed at maintaining peace, discipline, and tranquillity in and around these centres throughout the examination schedule.
As per the order, the presence of unauthorized persons and unnecessary gatherings within a radius of 100 metres of examination centres has been strictly barred. The assembly of three or more persons in the restricted area is prohibited, except for candidates appearing in the exams and duly authorized officials.
The use of loudspeakers, public address systems, or any high-decibel sound equipment within 200 metres of examination venues has also been banned. In addition, carrying electronic and communication devices such as smartwatches, health bands, electronic pens, scanners, Bluetooth-enabled devices, earphones, microphones, or similar gadgets within the restricted zone will not be allowed. The order also prohibits carrying weapons, explosives, or any suspicious materials near the centres.
Traffic obstruction, illegal parking, and the setting up of food stalls or temporary structures within the restricted area have been disallowed as well.
The prohibitory order has come into effect immediately and will remain in force until the conclusion of both the HSLC and HS examinations, 2026. Authorities have warned that any violation of the order will invite strict legal action under the relevant provisions of law.
