A team of West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) personnel from Azara Police Station intercepted an Ignis car (registration number AS11AG0340) during a naka check at Bongara on NH-17, leading to the recovery of 2.6 kg of cannabis. The contraband was reportedly hidden inside a rice bag.
The police also seized 15 ATM cards from the vehicle, raising suspicions of wider criminal activity.
According to information shared by Guwahati Police on X, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. They have been identified as:
- Saifuddin Mazumder (41) of Silchar
- Sabuluddin Mazumdar of Silchar
- Md Najmul Hoque (44) of Matia
Authorities have confirmed that legal action has been initiated against the accused as the investigation proceeds.
