Lakhimpur, July 24, 2025: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against narcotics, Lakhimpur Police apprehended two individuals and seized a significant quantity of suspected heroin on Wednesday.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint team from Khelmati Outpost (OP) and accompanying staff launched a swift operation, leading to the arrest of Md Ashadul Haque and Md Mazarul Hussain. During the operation, the team recovered 26 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, collectively weighing 34.41 grams.
Confirming the development, Lakhimpur Police shared the details through an official post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Based on credible input, a team of Khelmati OP and staff apprehended Md Ashadul Haque and Md Mazarul Hussain and recovered – 26 no.s of plastic vials containing suspected Heroin weighing 34.41 gm.”
The apprehended individuals are currently in custody, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and network associated with the seized contraband.
This successful seizure adds to the growing number of narcotics interceptions across Assam, reflecting the state’s firm stance against the drug menace under the “War on Drugs” initiative.
