Guwahati, July 8, 2025 — In a swift and effective action, a team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) under Odalbakra Outpost of Dispur Police Station apprehended two individuals attempting to commit theft in a residential area on Bishnu Rabha Path.
The accused have been identified as Mithun Dhar (36), a resident of Kahilipara, and Baser Ali (25), hailing from Mukalmua. According to the official post by Guwahati Police on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the duo was caught red-handed during their attempt to steal from a house.
Upon intervention by the police, stolen copper coils were recovered from the possession of the accused. Prompt legal action has been initiated against both individuals.
The Guwahati Police’s quick response once again underscores their commitment to public safety and their zero-tolerance approach towards criminal activities. An investigation is currently underway to determine if the accused are linked to any previous theft incidents in the area.
